The list of high-tech features is truly impressive; all-new adjustable, long-travel Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), Electric Power Steering (EPS) with trail specific settings, Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), a new version of Honda's revolutionary Dual-Clutch automaticTransmission (DCT) with a new High/Low range sub-transmission, multi-mode 2WD/4WD system with locking front differential, inboard rear disc brake, new Maxxis tires with an aggressive, trail-ready tread pattern – the list goes on. Adding to its trail credentials, the TRX500 Rubicon DCT IRS EPS also features a seat that is broader and thicker than previous models, which when combined with a roomier riding position and high comfort handgrips ensure that the new Rubicon is supremely comfortable.



Knowing that trail ATVs are occasionally called upon to carry or pull heavy loads, Honda engineers even thought to fit newly designed, higher-rated racks with numerous tie down points and have increased towing capacity to an impressive 600 kg. Other detailed changes that help round out the package include a powerful 470-watt alternator, a comprehensive electronic dashboard that includes a maintenance reminder, and a clever new one-handed reverse selection mechanism that is simple to use. Immediately apparent from this array of technology is the fact that the TRX500 Rubicon is going to be incredibly comfortable, but that's only half the story; trail riders also demand that their machines handle well and the TRX500 Rubicon DCT IRS EPS delivers here too. The low centre of gravity (C of G) and excellent mass centralization generated by the unique sideways-mounted OHV engine work in harmony with the new power steering system and the independent suspension with just the right amount of roll stiffness to create a machine that gives the rider a whole new level of confidence and control.

  • Powerful liquid-cooled, 475 cc single-cylinder OHV four-stroke engine is longitudinally mounted allowing direct driveshaft alignment to both front and rear wheels for maximum drivetrain efficiency.

DCT features a dual shift mapping program that automatically selects between two transmission shifting modes—either Cruise or Sport mode—for optimum shift timing depending on the rider’s pattern of throttle operation. During aggressive use, the Sport mode kicks in and holds the transmission in gear longer before shifting to deliver more aggressive performance. During more casual operation, the Cruise mode allows the transmission to shift up sooner for more casual performance and enhanced fuel efficiency. In addition to the fully automatic mode, the DCT transmission also allows riders to employ Honda's exclusive Electric Shift Program (ESP) for easy shifts with the touch of handlebar-mounted buttons.
  • New dual-range sub transmission allows the rider to easily select between high and low range via a conveniently placed lever. The 5 speed Dual Clutch Transmission will operate fully within either range ensuring that there will almost certainly be the correct ratio available for whatever conditions the rider encounters.

  • Super-heavy-duty automatic clutch with low-rpm engagement for excellent drivability and towing capacity.
  • 2WD/4WD system now offers three drive modes: 2WD; 4WD with torque-sensing front differential; and 4WD with locked front differential to optimize traction. The system also features a Speed Override mode that can be engaged when the front differential is locked to allow increased wheel speed under severe conditions such as deep mud.
  • Air cleaner sub chamber reduces resonant noise for quieter operation.
  • Stainless-steel exhaust system includes a USDA-qualified spark arrester/muffler designed for quiet operation without servicing for long-lasting performance.
